Setting up and maintaining a professional-grade Tornado foosball table requires distinct procedures to keep it playing at peak performance—fast, level, and smooth.
Here is a comprehensive overview of what is included in general service maintenance and standard installation for a Tornado table.
## 1. Professional Installation Service: What Is Included
Setting up a new or relocated Tornado table (such as a T-3000, Cyclone, or Sport) requires heavy lifting, precise mechanical alignment, and specialized pinning tools.
* **Unboxing & Cabinet Inspection:** Safely unboxing the top and bottom halves of the cabinet (ensuring serial numbers match on commercial split-cabinet models) and inspecting for any transit damage.
* **Leg Assembly & Boot Mounting:** Bolting the heavy-duty legs securely to the cabinet corners using flat washers and nuts without over-tightening. Attaching the leg boots and levelers.
* **Bearing Installation:** Correctly inserting the two-piece or split bearings from the inside of the cabinet facing out to ensure the rods glide with zero friction.
* **Rod & Component Threading:** Feeding the high-tensile steel rods through the bearings. This includes sliding on the rubber bumpers (ensuring the bumper holes face the cabinet wall) and placing the correct amount of counterbalanced men on the right rods.
* **Roll Pin Punching:** Aligning each player figure over the rod holes and using a roll pin punch block and mallet to drive the heavy-duty metal roll pins perfectly flush through the men and handles.
* **Ball Return System Setup:** Mounting and securing the internal ball return ramps, chutes, and outer catch boxes. On coin-operated models, this includes installing the push-chute mechanism and linking it to the internal ball trap.
* **Precision Leveling:** Placing a 24-inch carpenter's level directly on the playfield (both side-to-side and end-to-end) and micro-adjusting the screw-in leg levelers until a ball sits perfectly static without drifting.
## 2. General Service Maintenance: What Is Included
To prevent slow-spinning rods, sticky playfields, or erratic ball behavior, a standard maintenance service includes:
* **Rod Deep Cleaning & Polishing:** Wiping down all 8 steel rods with a microfiber cloth to strip off old grease, skin oil, and dust.
* **Pure Silicone Lubrication:** Applying exactly 1–2 drops of **100% pure liquid silicone fluid** to the outside of each clean rod, spinning and sliding it through the bearings to coat the surface evenly.
> *Note: Solvents like WD-40, WD-40 silicone spray, or graphite are never used, as they destroy the plastic bearings and ruin play.*
>
* **Playfield & Wall Sanitization:** Cleaning the laminate playfield surface, side ramps, and goals with an evaporating cleaner (like 70% isopropyl alcohol or diluted Simple Green). This removes black plastic friction marks and ball track residue without leaving a sticky film.
* **Component & Hardware Tightening:** Checking and tightening the split-bearing halves, goal tins, counter-scroll pegs, and cabinet corner bolts.
* **Wear-and-Tear Inspection & Parts Replacement: parts and accessories are extra charged**
* Inspecting player figures for micro-cracks or loose play (replacing worn roll pins).
* Checking rubber bumpers for dry rot or splitting.
* Replacing worn, cracked, or sticky foosball balls.
* **Coin-Op System Check (If applicable):** Testing the coin chute mechanism, tracking the internal electronic or mechanical counter meters, and cleaning the internal ball runway paths to ensure smooth vending.
